Tapestry Scarves: Blocks of tapestry float in a body of soft silk and chenille. Inspired by the work of cloisonné enamelists, many of my tapestry scarves include metallic threads outlining pools of rich color. Other tapestry scarves feature ribbons inlaid in geometric or free-form patterns. Each tapestry scarf features a one-of-a-kind design.
Tapestries for the Wall: My Jewel Box Collection features small-format tapestries inspired by pieces of colorful cloisonné jewelry. Mounted in 8 x 8 shadowbox frames, each is a small gem for your wall. I also weave small landscapes and tapestries inspired by summer gardens, natural wetlands and the abstract play of color.
I wove my Tsunami Series in response to the 2011 disaster in Japan. For the first few tapestries in this series, I used randomly mixed threads and weave structures in the lower section to represent the chaos and destruction of the tsunami. In the upper portion, more orderly weave structures represented the promise of recovery. Later, I wove the "Renewal" tapestry to represent a more universal theme of recovery from all types of natural disasters, international conflicts, troubled relationships, and personal despair.
The tapestries shown here are no longer available for sale, but I would be happy to work with you to design a tapestry inspired by a favorite book or by a meaningful event in your life.

“Renewal”
Originally inspired by our visit to Japan during the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, this tapestry represents recovery from all types of natural disasters, international conflicts, troubled relationships, and personal despair. The dark threads are laid down in a chaotic mix of weave structures. The orderly ripples of green represent a period of calming recovery followed by hope for vibrant renewal. |
